“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Oakfield Baptist Church

Oakfield, Maine is a small town, barely more than a crossroads, really, in northern Maine.  Last Sunday I was blessed to visit the Baptist church there as I took part in their Sunday morning service.  I was doubly blessed as this is the home church of John and Marge Seiler, two long time friends of Baptist Park, our summer home base for many years.  Though both in their 80's, john and Marge looked great and it was fun catching up on the news of our families.

The pastor of Oakfield Baptist is new since the last time I was there.  He led the congregation in prayer, singing and the offering, then I got to fill the 40 minutes usually set aside for preaching.  This is no small sacrifice for a Baptist pastor!  The show included a mix of newer and older routines.  Of course, there were the rabbit and dove productions, and my standard three ball routine to "When the Saints go Marching In" by Mahalia Jackson.  I also included "Jester's Creed" a juggling routine from years ago that I've reintroduced in the past year or so.  It involves a combination of balancing, juggling and ball spinning to "Fanfare for the Common Man" and recitation of the Apostle's Creed.  One of my favorites.

There were a surprising number of kids and teens for this small town church, but most of the audience were adults.  Several knew me from their own involvement with Baptist Park, which made the whole morning feel very intimate.
