“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Bridgton Health Care

I do more shows at the Bridgton Health Care than most other venues in a given year.  It is the local nursing home just three miles from our home. Since we are there so often, it is hard sometimes to have anything new to say or do. The shows there can kind of run together for me, but apparently not for the residents. That said, our most recent show was very intentionally different.

Since this gig was the first weekend of December, I decided to focus The Who.e show around Christmas, something I've rarely if ever done, even for,a December show.  I opened the show doing everything ball routine with baseball sized jingle bells accompanied by Michael W. Smith's version of Jingle Bells.  I also, adjusted my devil stick routine to go with Melanie's version of Good King Wensaslaus.  Before juggling, I shared briefly the true story behind this song.  It actually has nothing to do with the birth of Christ, but instead is arguably the most famous Boxing Day song ever written.  It occurs, as the song says, "on the Feast of Stephen" which is December 26. It tells how the good King helped a poor man gather fire wood in the snow to make sure his subject could stay warm.  Other music I used include Come Let Us Adore Him and the Hallelujah Chorus.

I tried to tie my illusions into the Christmas theme as well. I used vanishing and appearing candles, the vanishing champagne bottle ( always a big hit with one 85 year old lady named Dot), productions from a gift bag, and others that would fit the Christmas season nicely. I even changed the patter that I often use withthese tricks to keep the focus on that night when God the Father sending his Son.

As always, this show is also a time to see neighbors, some who work there and some who now call the facility home.  It was truly a sweet morning.
