“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Naomi and Jeremiah's Bridal Shower

Our 22 year old daughter, Naomi, is engaged to a man she has been dating for the last three years.  She and Jeremiah met in college, and now live in Pearl River, New York.  Our oldest girl, Jo, lives in Austin, Texas, so getting everyone together for a bridal shower was tricky, but we were able to pull it off last week.  Jo is home for a month, and the future Mr. and Mrs. Hagerstrom (yes, he's taking our name) had coinciding days off, so we took advantage of this window of opportunity to throw a co-ed party.

Sue and Jo planned an ice cream sundae bar, which was a big hit.  After the ice cream, I led games, most of which were based on games from the TV show " Minute to Win It".  For example, one game required players to move a cookie from their foreheads to their mouths without the use of their hands.  We ended the games with a Naomi trivia quiz. "What was the first thing Naomi dreamed of being when she grew up."  ( an elephant).  "Who was Naomi's first celebrity crush." (junior Asparagus from Veggie Tales)  Yeah, she was a quirky kid.

After the games, the happy couple opened gifts, and they seemed to make off with quite a haul.  but as fun as the shower was, the best part was that they were able to be here for four days.  Our little house was full again as we had the whole family together.  We played lots of games - a staple in the Hagerstrom house- drank plenty of coffee and wine, told stories, and discussed the final wedding plans a lot.  Naomi's best friend from childhood, Keshia, came by a couple times as well.

The happy couple headed back to New York on Saturday, but the next time they come up to Maine it will be for the main event.  They're not really sure what will happen after that, but I'm sure she'll be do something even more significant than being an elephant. Also, I approve of Jeremiah even more than Junior Asparagus.  besides, she couldn't go through life as Mrs. Naomi Asparagus.
