“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Buxton United Methodist Ch

One of the many churches that supported our mission trip to Uganda last July was a little country congregation in Buxton, Maine. The pastor, Lynn Briggs, is a friend of ours and former coworker. In fact, Lynn and her family babysat out cat while we were in Africa.

Beside pet care, the Buxton United Methodist Church supported us generously with both financially and prayerfully. Sunday we had a chance to thank them. Sue, Rose and I showed slides from our trip and told stories of the orphans, school children, neighbors and friends we spent the month with.

We also shared the need for clean water at the Buyala Children's Home. While Buxton Methodist is currently raising money for a local family who need a handicapped accessible van, they also promised to help out with this project as soon as they're able. Some, expressed an interest in our upcoming chili cook off, also a fund raiser for the well.

This was a special morning for us for several reasons. First, it is always a blessing to share about our experiences in Uganda. Furthermore, it is always a blessing to spend time with Lynn and her congregation. Finally, perhaps my biggest spiritual milestone happened in a Methodist church 35 years ago in South Carolina. I don't overemphasize denominational affiliations very much, but it was a little nostalgic to spend a morning in a UMC.
