Lewiston Root Cellar

Mar 19 2011

Last night, Sue, Rose and I did a program at the Lewiston, ME Root Cellar. The Root Cellar is an inner city ministry that does so much for the people in the neighborhood, I don't know where to start. we had never been to the one in Lewiston before, but we've been to the Portland Root Cellar countless times.

Often times, at Portland, we're brought in for a specific age group or program: teens, youth group, after school care, etc. but last night our show was open to the community. Consequently, we had a very diverse audience: kids, teens, adults, seniors, families. We were very blessed to have a couple Muslem girls in the audience. Christians must remember, THEY ARE NOT THE ENEMY. Rather, praise God for bringing the mission field to us!

Our show ran about an hour, and had some good moments. Our new Zaccheus routine was very well received. This is a routine built around the signed bill in a balloon illusion. Rose did a fine job with several tricks, although she struggled with her shackles escape. She also encountered hecklers for the first time, so we had a teachable moment on the car ride home. I trust the presentation of God's Word was clear and effective.

I'm so impressed with the people who work at the Root Cellar day in and day out being light and salt to the neighborhood in which God has placed them. It is a humble honor to have been part of their work last night.

"What a wonderful ministry to both children and adults.  In past years it has been a struggle to arrange programing that would hold the attention of all ages, but also challenge each heart with God's gift of Salvation.  Thank you for sharing your ministry."  -Sunday School Sup't.
