“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Maine Moose Hunting Lottery

Every year for several years now Maine has had a moose hunting lottery. People, both in state and 'from away' enter their names, and pay an entry fee in hopes that they are chosen to be allowed to hunt during our state's moose hunting season. The lottery for this opportunity rotates towns, and this year's lottery was in the border town of Jackman, Maine.  A local church from there hired us to come up and be part of the event. Until they contacted me, I thought the lottery was done in some state office somewhere, and the winners were contacted after the fact.  It turns out this is a huge event, and, when we arrived, we were told it was the biggest event in the history of the town of Jackman.

Held in a large open field,  it certainly had a target audience.  There was a BB gun shooting range for kids, a contest where moose skulls were displayed, and people tried to come the closest to guessing the height and weight of the bull before it was killed, and the only 'ride' was an oversized monster truck that strapped eight people into the back.  It then proceeded to do doughnuts in the mud.  There was flannel and camo eveywhere, and tee shirts with slogans like "Ammosexual" and "Family, Friends, Firearms and Faith".  Not the crowd my wife and I usually run with, but everyone was friendly and well behaved.

I did three or four shows in an open area.  It was actually three, I guess, but people came late to the last one and had requests to repeat a lot for them. To be honest, none of the shows had more than 20 in the audience, and that's counting the ones who watched safely from a distance.  However, it was a Gospel presence, and those people heard a Gospel presentation, albeit a brief one.  Outdoor-get your own audience shows are getting harder as I get older, but I believe the Word will not be wasted there.  Besides, Sue and I had a very unique experience.
