Market Square is a is a facility for the elderly in South Paris, Maine.  The residents are semi-independant and mostly, it seems, ambulatory.  It has been a couple years since I have performed there, and it was a blessing to return this week.  Unlike previous engagements there, though, this time it was outdoors, a new trend since the covid-19 pandemic.  In this case, I set up in their courtyard:  the residents sat in their gazebo, and I was just outside (for most routines).  Although, the courtyard had  a beautiful arbor, so even out of the gazebo, there wasn't much headroom for juggling.  I'm nothing if not flexible.

This was one of those shows that will be remembered fondly simply because of the warmth of the audience and connection I was able to make with them.  Because they are not suffering from dementia conditions - or, if they are, they are in the very early stages- it allowed me to talk with them =off script' if you will. I talked about Africa, my new show-pants, and my summer job at Hannaford.  We shared a lot of laughs and a few sweet moments as well.  

As for the show, I will also remember this show for a long time as one that was technically as good as any I've done.  This is all the more a testimony of God's grace as I literally raced to South Paris after a morning shift at my summer job at Hannaford's deli counter.
