“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

From the Journal of my First Mission Trip: the DR, 1994 (6th entry)

I called Sue before breakfast today.  It was so nice to hear her voice.  I hope this trip has not been too hard on her and the girls, but I know now that it had to happen.

Naomi has an ear infection.  Lord let it pass quickly, please.

I went to the work site for the first time in several days.  We were there long enough to make about 100 balloon mice, then we went to the other side of Wendy and Larry's neighborhood. About 100 to 120 people watched us, and it was good ministry.  A lot of adults, too.  It sure felt good to be doing it again, and I really did pace myself.  But the living conditions were unbelievable.  A woman was butchering chickens right next to us, and feedin the guts to the other chickens and a sow that was right next to where the kids were sitting. One kid sat in a garbage pile to watch us.  Actually, garbage was everywhere.

After lunch at the site (what progress!) they made me take a siesta back at camp.  I rested, but did not sleep.  I also did some laundry by hand.  I should be set for the rest of the trip now.

After supper (the Dominican cooks are back, praise God!) Mike and I did a workshop on how to do Gospel magic and painting.  I was feeling tired, so I asked to go first.  Thank God I did because poor Mike was up until midnight with his presentation.

Normally I would be very competitive with someone like Mike, but I am learning to back off and let him be the "star" if you will. I learned a lot last week. Amen
