It has been a lot of fun rereading and transcribing my journal from 1994.  I do believe that some of the spiritual lessons I learned have impacted my life ever since returning, or at least they've been a starting place for grrowth that has continued ever since.  The daughters I wrote about are now 29 and 27 years old, and we've been blessd by a third daughter, Rose, who is 19 now.  Sue and I have been married for 35 years.

Additionally, this trip has inspired us as a family to continue with short term missionary work, but I've never left Sue and the girls behind again.  We have been to Juarez, Mexico, Ecuador, Paraguay, Crow Naion and Uganda (as well as Canada: is that considered a mssion trip?)

Since returning home, I have learned that our team doctor was correct, and what I was dealing with in the DR was in fact anxiety.  I was not effected by the heat, but rather having a series of panic attacks.  This continued for several  months after getting home before getting diagnosed.  Since then I have been treated with medication and a lot of prayer and meditation on scripture.  I have not had a full blown anxiety arrack in years, and on a somewhat related note, I am no longer scared of flying.  

My two weeks were a real tuning point in my life.  Some day I'll need to write the back story to how I got invited on this trip to begin with.
