Other than a neighborhood show in our back yard years ago, the venue closest to home is a local nursing home: Bella Point, Bridgton.  I have been performing there regularly since 1987, and even during the pandemic, it was the first venue where I was able to do outdoor shows. I had the blessing of performing there again this past week. 

This time felt different in several ways. First of all, the population seems to have shifted, with more ambulatory residents, and fewer people with serious dementia.  This makes for a much more interactive audience, with lots of laughter and applause.

Also, the new activity person in our old friend, Tina.  Sue and I have known Tina since she immigrated here from Germany years ago, although we hadn't seen her for a while.  She is married to Mike, one of the most fun loving, gentle men I know.  Her husband was also at the show, volunteering to help set up.  But just like the show was different this time, seeing Mike was different, too. Mike's brother has recently passed away. It was heart breaking to see Mike so sad.

He helped me bring my props out to the car after the show was over, and we spoke about his loss. Then it was time for me to go, but I made sure to pray for him first.
