Last weekend, our summer camp where I serve as director welcomed over 70 Cub Scouts to our facility for their annual jamboree.  The timing was perfect, as we had finished our week with our youngest campers Thursday, and it was Thursday evening that the Scouts arrived. 

Their theme, much to my pleasure,, was ‘Under the Big Top”.  Each summer when they have been here, I’ve been asked to do a juggling show for them, but this time they asked if I would teach magic to the boys instead.  This posed the problem of making sure there were enough props for all the Cub Scouts to utilize, and when I realized this wasn’t possible, I decided to show them how they could make some of their own tricks when they got home. 

A special blessing was that one of our CITs, friend and a former student, Lauren, happened to be available the morning of the lessons, so, while I had a group doing magic, she was outside teaching juggling – after first dazzling them with her own mad fire juggling skills.  It was a fun day for everyone, and good PR for our camp.  We’ll have to do it again next year!
