The LOL jugglers, my team of 23 middle schoolers who I coach, will be doing a four day trip performing and sharing the Gospel in Willimantic, Connecticut this April.  In order to pull off an undertaking like this, fundraising is, of course, a huge piece.  So yesterday my aide, Amanda, and I spent five hours in front of a local Wal Mart with all those kids as they juggled and sold baked goods.

We set up quickly, and started with a lot of energy.  Of course, five hours of juggling is tiring, and there were times when the efforts waned.  Two kids, Sam and Amanda (the student, not the staff person) however, never seemed to stop!  After three hours or so the manager of the store care out and apologetically told us there had been some complaints about the fire and machete juggling and asked if we could hold back on those props.  We were disappointed, as we are always completely safe when using these props, but we complied.

Being Good Friday, there was a lot of business at the store as people were finishing their Easter preparations.  I ran into a lady who, 15 years ago was with a team of teens my wife and I took to Juarez, Mexico for mission work.  She is now married and the mother of two boys, and they are heading to Japan to be full time missionaries in a few months. 

In the end we raised $320 for our trip, which will go a long way.  Thanks to all the parents who helped provide baked goods for us to sell.
