Casco Inn

Apr 28 2021

Last wekend I was finally able to a show at a local senior housing facility indoors.  Ofcourse, I had to be masked through it all, which was fine and presented minimal challenges.  Casco Inn is a regular part of my yearly tour, and it was great to be back.  About 20 people were present intheir large living room as I perform a 50 minute gig.

One of the benefits I've gotten during this covid slow down is that I've been able to work on routines that I've neglected in the past.  Consequently, I was able to do the repeating egg from handherchief, goldfish production, contact juggling to Mahalia Jackson's "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" (On a tangent, please see the 2021 movie "Mahalia" on Hulu.), and hat juggling to "Crown Him With Many Crowns".  I felt really good about how these renewed routines, as well as my regulars, were executed that afternoon.

Of course, the animals were a big hit, and Cotton (our rabbit) visited the audience members when the show was done.  One of the staff people had her therapy dog present, and the beautiful golden lab was so well behaved.  It never once even approached the bunny, although it was sniffing around Cotton's production box prior to the show.

My emphasis in this show was "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" as well as using many familiar Gosple songs and hymns.  Besides the two mentioned above, I used "When the Saints Go Marching In", "Standing on the Promises of God, and "Near the Cross".  Many of the folks recognized them.

I was told, as I was packing up, that I was the first 'outsider' to come into the facility since the shut down over a year ago.  I am honored.
