Supreme Court Jesters and the 2020 Pandemic

Nov 18 2020

I still wear my mask in public. I still strive to stay six feet apart from people I encounter in stores and on the street. But I am getting tired of the covid-19 pandemic.  I know a lot of people have it worse than me, and people who make their living performing are truly suffering; but nonetheless, I'm tired of this.

Corona fatigue really hit hard when, last weekend, my chapel services at the Somerset County Jail were postponed. I was so looking forward to getting on the road again, to quote Willie Nelson.

But I must be grateful for the opportunities I have had. Many of them I have already written about: clown camp, outdoor shows over the summer, a church service for a church's first live meeting during the pandemic.  I've also put up several videos of individual routines.  I'm working on doing more soon.

Also, Casco Alliance Church, our home church, has had me do special routines every week or two. This has kind of brought me back to the early days of my ministry when the Methodist church I attended at the time had me do specials during their morning services. It allows me to focus on one routine and do it extremely well.  I've brought back old routines and made them work better, and that's been rewarding. I most recently did a series of illusions about communion.  I've always loved the intent of this routine, but this time I really felt it worked, and communicated what it was meant to.

Furthermore, since our school has been open since September, I've had the opportunity to do some chapel services for the various levels within the school. Actually, I have middle school chapel tomorrow. Again, this helps keep me sharp and does, I suppose, some good for the kingdom of God.

But I still can't wait for this pandemic to be OVER!

"What a wonderful ministry to both children and adults.  In past years it has been a struggle to arrange programing that would hold the attention of all ages, but also challenge each heart with God's gift of Salvation.  Thank you for sharing your ministry."  -Sunday School Sup't.
