LOL at OVCS

Mar 07 2018

This school year my student juggling troupe, LOL, has not been particularly busy. Due to some restructuring at the school where I teach, it has become harder to get the kids out in the community as much as I'd like. But recently I was able to fill in the right forms and jump through the proper hoops so that we could do a show at another area Christian school for their chapel service.

OVCS is the school where we did our program, and it is also the school where I taught prior to my current job, so it was something of a reunion. In truth, there's only two staff at OVCS who were there when I was, but it was great to see them again.

As for the show, the students did a great job. Caleb C juggled rings for an audience for the first time; the work he has put into mastering them has been inspiring! Elijah did machetes while on a balance board, and Brianna and I passed six balls without a mistake.

Perhaps the highlight of the show was performing a new routine about David and Goliath for the first time. The "Philistine fan girls": Rachel, Brianna, Cailyn and Kasy were perfect in their roles. Caleb C mounted his stilts and wore a fake beard as he played Goliath as a stereotypical bully with way more brawn than brains, and Caleb H filled is for an absent Gideon as a banjo playing David.

"What a wonderful ministry to both children and adults.  In past years it has been a struggle to arrange programing that would hold the attention of all ages, but also challenge each heart with God's gift of Salvation.  Thank you for sharing your ministry."  -Sunday School Sup't.
