I got a call to have my students do a show at Joyful Noise child care.  The call was rather short notice, but I accepted the offer.  Unfortunately, I didn't consult the school calendar, and it was booked for the same day and time that the music department had scheduled rehearsal for the spring concert.  I really didn't want to reschedule, so I decided we'd make it,work with the nine kids who are not in the music program.  Of course, we have 22 students normally, but I was confident they could do it.

while Joyful Noise is a day care / preschool, we had kids as old as 10 in the audience that day.  The city of Windham does an early dismissal on Wednesdays, so many local elementary students were in the audience, too.  In a fun coincidence, three of my nine performers that day were also Joyful Noise "graduates".

we did a half hour show, which was just the right length.  My students were remarkably adaptable, but best of all, when Caleb upstaged Brady a couple minutes early - he forgot some of the adjustments we made for the smaller team we had that day - Brady handled it like a pro and never broke character.

I also took advantage of the smaller team and added my Hallelujah routine to the end of the show. This is a balance board / juggling routine to the Hallelujah Chorus as sung by 70"s icon, Melanie, and I included a little audience participation in it that day just for fun. Now LOL is done for another school year except for our upcoming four day trip to Vermont.
