“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Kathadin Area Cub Scout Jamboree

each week that we are at the camp I direct in northern Maine, we shut down from Friday night to Sunday afternoon.  This gives us all a full day off each Saturday.  however, when your camp sits on 300 acres of wilderness, other groups often want to rent it on the weekends, and last weekend it was the Cub Scouts' turn.  Scores of little boys, parents and leaders set up tents in our RV area and they had a blast.  I really have no responsibility when they are here, but they always do ask me to do a show on their final afternoon, and I am always happy to oblige.

they made an eager audience, and it was fun to perform a 25 minute set of my biggest crowd pleasers: dove and rabbit productions, fire, machete and sickle juggling, mind reading and more.  But I decided this time to include a gentle Gospel witness in the show too. It was just one routine, the Gospel coloring book and disappearing crayons.  I explained that we were a Baptist camp, and this was the type of trick I would do on any given morning service at camp. Everyone was accepting of the routine, so I felt good that it was included.

then, when I was picking up after the show, one of the dads approached me.  He told me that neither he nor his wife had any church background, but he was starting to think it was time to expose their kids to religion.  He wanted to receive information about our camp sessions.  I was glad to hand him one and encourage him to encourage their boys to come.  So this is hardly a book of Acts testimony, it is, none the less evidence that the Holy Spirit was prompting me to include that routine, and he was also at work in that young dads heart to seek out the beginnings of Christian training for his boys.  I pray that his kids come, ,and that may lead the family to a good local church.
