A week ago, my student jugglers, LOL, had their second show in two days. This show was at the Root Cellar ministry in Portland.  The Root Cellar is an inner city mission in Maine's largest city.  They have a dental and medical clinic, after school care, youth group, community meals and so much more.  My class performed for the after school program.  This is a true cross cultural experience for my suburban students who are predominantly Caucasian.  Our audience was 100% African immigrants or refugees.

The morning before, we had done a show at a church with 200 in attendance.  The Root Cellar show had about a dozen.  To be fair, we usually get more kids at the Root Cellar, but it was one of the first afternoons that felt like spring, so many neighborhood kids were no doubt enjoying the weather.  But just like good things coming in small package, good shows are often for small audiences.

My students did a terrific job in a small space.  Caleb B. did a terrific job juggling battle axes, Kasy gets funnier and funnier with the Creation story / illusion, and Jacob had all the music properly prepped and ready to go.  It was a great day for both groups of kids.
