“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Camp, 2017

It's hard to write a blog about an entire summer of being a camp director, but it's also hard to blog on a daily or even weekly basis when you're responsible for an entire community of primarily young people. In fact, only three of my 17 counseling staff were out of their teens.  Needless to say, my days go quickly and are full of play, talk, Prayer, food and fellowship; all with more paperwork than I care to have to do.

The summer was terrific at Baptist Park again this year.  The name of the camp is misleading.  Although it is owned by the American Baptist Churches of Aroostook County, Maine, our speakers this year were: Advent Christian, Methodist, Alliance, Assembly of God, and, oh yeah, Baptist. The services were all well suited for the age groups of the week, and I had the blessing of doing the morning services most weeks.  So, between these and Sunday church gigs, and occaisional other opportunities, I think I did over 30 shows this summer again.

Also, this year there were more jugglers on staff than ever.  Rose, Emily,Isaac and Brianna are all former students of mine (and, yes, Rose is my daughter, too). Sarah and Tyler are also capable jugglers, so we had lots of fun in talent shows each week.

It was, again, a summer of improvisational comedy performed by the staff for the campers, a summer Of playing on the slip and slide, asummer of watching the groundhogs scamper around the fields, a summer of studying Gods Word and teaching it to young people.  It was a summer of fellowship with young people and reuniting with old friends: Pastor Ray, Dan, Mary and Cathy-our cooks- Jonathan and Ruth- former coworkers, and many others.

So another summer of blessing has come and gone. We're back home in Bridgton in southern Maine, but we have so many memories to think back on from the summer of 2017.
