Umbrella Factory

Dec 20 2017

For the eighth or ninth year in a row, We were invited to be part of a community Christmas party held in a locally owned grocery store named the Umbrella Factory.  This is a quirky little store with a big heart and a unique decor.  Among other things, the ceiling is full of upside down umbrellas.  The challenge this creates for juggling is overshadowed by the fun of the event.

For the first time since doing these gigs, the shows were just us.  Until this year, we shared the stage (well the meat department) with the Bridgton Alliance Worship Team.  Things have changed at the Bridgton church, and the team isn't the same people any more.  So my wife and I went and performed three shows, with just enough time to reset illusions between gigs.  We had to keep the shows going as there was steady for traffic and new audiences throughout the evening.

It is certainly a unique venue for a juggling show, and even more unique setting to openly share the Gospel message of Christmas.  What a privilege!  When we were finished with our final show, a gentleman came up to me and thanked me for the performance.  Then his little boy shook my hand. When I asked the child his name, he told me, "Roland".

"That was my dad's name," I replied. "You have a very special name."  I don't know if this little guy will remember this brief exchange, but it was one of those little Christmas 'miracle' moments I will always remember.

"What a wonderful ministry to both children and adults.  In past years it has been a struggle to arrange programing that would hold the attention of all ages, but also challenge each heart with God's gift of Salvation.  Thank you for sharing your ministry."  -Sunday School Sup't.
