“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Best Afternoon Yet

Today was the best afternoon yet. After an early afternoon break-although Rose went back to Agape House to get more mores from the social worker- we decided to venture once again beyond our gate. This time, though, it wasn't to buy produce from the local vendors. This time Rose brought juggling clubs and I brought balls. Sue, meanwhile, had our water bottles.

As we met kids immediately upon enter the street-one little guy always greets me with a high five- we began to juggle. Kids came pouring out from seemingly everywhere, but adults were intrigued as well. We wanted to meet our neighbors in this area, and we sure did. The parents seemed to appreciate that we wanted to ha e fun with their kids. Then, as we got to the end of the dirt road, Sue noticed that a group of six or more men who work at an outdoor metalworks shop were watching, too. One of the guys was trying to juggle three pieces of their local fruit (I haven't learned the name of this yet).

So we approached them and, after a short demo, I offered to teach them how to juggle three balls. We were probably with these guys for 20 minutes, and we all had a blast. Most importantly, it was the start of relationship building. They actually want us to come back tomorrow, and no doubt we will if possible. I hope for opportunities to share the Gospel with them as the Lord provides the chance. I figure we can start by telling them we're Christians and is there anything we can pray for.

Then this evening we were out on our porch as usual. The kids were all playing in the street when our Somali neighbors came by with some fresh baked- still warm from the oven- breads as a gift to us. Only one seems to speak English, and she to.d us they had been in Minneapolis for four years before coming to Uganda. They all seem much younger than I originally thought, and by the end of the evening, they were jumping rope in the street with Rose and some of the local kids.

A question I keep coming back to is, as cool as this is, is this really ministry? Cindy, our neighbor from Houston, assures us that it is. Even just the breaking down of walls with the locals on the dirt road. They know why we're here and who we're working with. By representing Agape well, we represent the Lord well. I want to go deeper, but I guess for one week, we're doing okay.
