Yesterday we had a day off from ministry here in Kampala. Since it was two days until Sue's birthday, we decided to go to Entebbe to the zoo. Okay, it's hardly an African safari, but it's also a fraction of the cost and distance. It really is a nice zoo, and we were joined for the day by our American neighbors and their four soon to be adopted children.

The zoo had all authentic African animals, including chimps, zebras, anacondas, and a whole lot more. For an additional 50000 shillings (about 16 bucks) Rose and I were able to enter the cheetah exhibit and pet them as well as a lioness who was also in that enclosure. We even got to feed the cheetahs what looked like dry cat food from our hands... no joke. I can't imagine any zoo in the states daring to allow this because of liability.

The zoo was a lot of fun, and it was especially cool sharing the experience with the four kids next door. They sure love Rose. Then we went out to eat at an outdoor restaurant on the shore of Lake Victoria. What a beautiful location. So, even though Sue won't have anything particularly special on her actual birthday, this certainly made for a great early celebration.

Today was another day at the children's home, and later we will be doing a show by our gate for the neighbors on the other side. I hope we draw a good sized audience and are a blessing to them all.
