On a recent, rainy Saturday, my wife, Sue, and I drove to an outdoor show in an area fairgrounds, doubtful that the event was even happening, much less our performance. But when we arrived, the bounce house was up, there were a few people on the portable rock wall, the bluegrass group,was playing under the bandstand, and several other events were clearly happening under a handful of tents. We were directed to a small tent to set up our show. Could I really juggle under a tent that was seven feet at its highest point? Would the audience come to sit under an even smaller tent to watch? Would I be able to get my wife out of the warm car to sit in a cold rain? We prayed, and I set up.

Our program was scheduled for 2:00, and by 1:30, the rain had stopped. It was still cold and cloudy, but at least I could step out from under my tent to juggle. By 1:50, everyone (truly!) at the fairgrounds had come over for the show. They sat under the little tent. They sat in the wagon that had been giving hayrides. They stood in the wet grass. At 2:00 we began.

It was on of those shows I love doing. The audience was great, I juggled well, it was outdoors so I juggled fire and even got to use my fire diabolo, and I went for almost an hour.

When the show was over, several people wanted to speak with us about a variety of topics, and one animal lover spoke extensively about our bunny, Cotton, with Sue who by this time left the confines of the warm vehicle.

At 3:30, as we were heading home, the rain began again.
