Once again, we were the entertainment for, and I was the emcee of the AWANA Grand Prix.  The Grand Prix is a toy car race similar to a Cub Scout Pinewood Derby, and AWANA is our church's kids' club that meets on Tuesday evenings ( http://awana.org/ ).  Although Rose does not participate in AWANA (tuesday is her night in the dance studio), she entered a car in the race.  She decorated her car to look like our pastor, complete with a picture of his face downloaded from the church's web site.  She got third place for both design and speed.

Emceeing is always a lot of fun.  I get to randomly interupt the races with various give aways.  "Every prize is guaranteed to be worth less than one dollar!"  I got to be a mix of carny and Monty Hall for the afternoon.  My favorite give away was a squirting ring with a cross on the front.  "After you squirt someone in the eye, you can tell them about the love of Jesus!" 

As for the show, we did a half hour set of mostly new material.  We need to keep it fresh when we do so much at our home church.  The kids and adults were entertained and ministered to with the Word of God, emphasizing "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain."  There were a few non-churched families there, and I hope we gave them something to think about; I know the AWANA leaders gave them a fun afternoon.
