“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Easton Baptist Church

On Sunday, July 22, I was scheduled to do two shows at the Easton (Maine) Baptist Church.  It’s about a 20 minute ride from the summer camp that we use as our home base during the summers.  Once we get from  camp to downtown Presque Isle, it’s one road the whole way to the church.  I set our early so that I could start setting up, and my daughters, Naomi and Rose were to meet me there just before the first show with a couple of their friends from camp.

The first service was at 9:00 AM, and when 9:00 rolled around, they still hadn’t met up with me.  I made some quick adjustments with my program, as many of the routines I planned include Rose.  At 9:20, my cell phone went off.  It was Naomi.  Even though I was in the middle of the show, I took the call because I was getting worried.  They were lost in the big city of Easton, population 700!  In her defense, there were a few times when route 10 took sharp rights, and continuing straight actually would put you on a different road.

They decided to go back to camp, and I was left to do both shows alone.  On top of that, there was only about 10 minutes to set things up for the second service.  Furthermore, the guy running the sound booth in David’s absence had never touched an i-pod before.  Suddenly, I was the technology expert, having owned my i-pod since last month.

Remarkably, I didn’t experience a lot of anxiety.  This is not my normal response to circumstances like this.  There were times when I really had to think on my feet and adjust the program and routines as I went, but in the end, the services were both excellent.  God did a great job getting me to the point where I had rely totally on Him rather than myself, and it turned out fine.
