Snow Day

Feb 28 2011

Today was to be our first day back at school after February break. It was also supposed to be the day I tried out some new routines at our school's elementary chapel service. However, it is snowing and the forecast is for it to turn to freezing rain, so school has been cancelled. I don't mind missing school, but it always frustrates me when a show has to be rescheduled. Oh well.

Two of the routines I would have performed today were black light routines. One is with glowing cigar boxes to music by Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The other is a glowing diabolo routine. Eventually I will perform this to Mark Heard's 'Dry Bone Dance', but I don't have that available right now. I went to practice these routines yesterday to prepare for our show, only to find out there was no way to get out church's sanctuary blacked out at 2:00 in the afternoon. Then I discovered that the handicapped bathroom had no windows, so I spent a good part of my afternoon in there with my CD player, blacklight and props. Fortunately, no one was around the building that day, because it might have been hard to explain! Hopefully I will get this chapel program rescheduled soon, so my efforts in the restroom won't be for nothing!
