Family Fun Day

Sep 17 2011

I just got back from the family fun day fund raiser at Windham Christian Academy.  I don't know how much the school raised, but Rose collected $205 in pledges and walked 6.25 miles in the walk-a-thon.  She only signed up to walk 2.5 miles, but she did that much with her friend Libby.  Then her friend Emily showed up, and she walked with her, too!  Throw in a few laps with a special high school friend named Lauren, and a few laps where the fifth grade girls were chased by the fifth grade boys, and before you know it, she had done 25 laps of the soccer field.

My job was to teach juggling over near the snack bar.  Not a huge stretch for me.  It was fun working with the younger kids and letting my students keep developing their skills.  The best part, though, was teaching our Biology teacher, Felix, to juggle.  He's new at the school, and, just like when I was a kid, juggling is an excellent ice breaker when first meeting someone.  I'm interested to see how much he'll improve between today and Monday, because I'm pretty sure he's hooked!

"What a wonderful ministry to both children and adults.  In past years it has been a struggle to arrange programing that would hold the attention of all ages, but also challenge each heart with God's gift of Salvation.  Thank you for sharing your ministry."  -Sunday School Sup't.
