“Go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Teach them to observe all things that I have commanded you.  And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20

We believe that we have been called to use the gifts God has given us to reach unbelievers for Him and to encourage, and build up His Church.

Amherst NH UCC Church

On Sunday, we did two services at the Amherst, NH United Church of Christ.  Actually, the first hour we visited the 7th grade Sunday school class and shared about some of our missions work.  The students were eager to interject questions and then they shared about some of their community service projects they have been involved in.  My brother, David, is the teacher of this class, and our niece, Lindsey, is one of the 7th graders, so it was a family affair.

After church, we did our regular program during the fellowship time.  A lot of people stayed for it, which both pleased and surprised us.  We did a mix of routines geared to both kids (Jonah and the Whale) and adults.  We built the message of the show around two routines.  In the first half, Rose did the shackles escape as we taught about Paul's statement, "Who shall set me free from this body of death?  Thanks be to God for Jesus who sets us free."  Later, we performed a new routine called "Do Something Now".  It is a series of five or six illusions with banners interspersed reporting data about world hunger conditions.  It was extemely well received for a new routine with many comments afterwards about how meaningful and powerful it was.  I love it when a new routine works, especially the serious, thought provoking ones.

One goal we have when we do a church program is to touch on both the spiritual (the shackles routine about Christ's grace and forgiveness) and the practical (Like Jesus, we need to care for the needy and feed the hungry).  It gave us the chance to promote Compassion International (visit their site here:  http://www.compassion.com/ )  and other child sponsorship ministries.  It was a fun and meaningful morning, made better by the fact that a lot of family, including our newest grand niece, Mya (5 weeks) were present!
