I caught your eye today,
but you quickly looked away,
and threw bread out on the pond and on the grass.
The pigeons at your feet,
Took all that they could eat,
While my last meal was taken from the trash.

You pretended not to see,
But you sneaked a look at me.
You didn't say a word, you only sneered.
You do not know my name,
And you showed no sign of shame,
When your children pointed, laughed at me and jeered.

You think it's a disgrace;
You used to like this place,
"But now'" you say, "There's more bums here every day."
"They're dirty and they smell,
"This park has gone to hell."
You wonder why you bother to even stay.

you throw the squirrels the crust,
While my eyes search through the dust;
But the bread's all gone; My hope once more deflated.
While hunger weakens me,
The final irony
Is that it's in My image you have been created.
