Yesterday, Rose and I juggled at this year's walk-a-thon for Abba ministry, a crisis pregnancy center in Portland.  As we were setting up, one of the coordinators asked if Rose wanted to walk.  We asked if she could collect pledges after the fact and still send them in, and we were told this was fine.  So, while I did 45 minutes of 'walk around' juggling, Rose walked 10 laps of the soccer field, and has been busy collecting pledges since.

When she was done, we did a 30 minute show for the crowd that was there.  It went very well, and I even tried out a brand new trick with dental floss.  I trust what we did was an encouragement to the faithful people working and walking at this event.

But for me, the best part of the day was the time spent with Rose.  We went to Friendly's for lunch, and it gave us the opportunity to talk about what Abba does and why.  she was given a plastic 'fetus' about three inches long, and she read that this was the size of an unborn baby at five weeks.  She picked up something else that had the word 'abstenance' on it and wanted to know what that meant.  It was a very natural teachable moment to talk about the vital issues of sex, preganacy and life with my 10 year old, and I'm grateful for that.
